On Feb 16-18, 2017, JLK & KHOP partnered to bring in Jonathan Tremaine Thomas for the first ever “Civil Righteousness Conference”

Events included a gathering with Intervarsity at WMU’s Kanley Chapel, a breakfast with Church and Civic leaders at Centerpoint Church, a community worship night at the River, a symposium on Nina Simone at Kalamazoo college… and finally we ended along KCollege’s Academy Street with the powerful public prayer demonstration called “The Wall”!

What is ‘Civil Righteousness’?

Civil Righteousness is a Kingdom solution to healing the racial wounds in our nation, both historical wounds and the ones that still bleed today. As justice and righteousness are both the foundation of God’s eternal throne, justice cannot be true justice unless it is funneled through the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Pray that the Holy Spirit anointed seeds released during this Jesus-centered message of “Civil Righteousness” fall on fertile ground in our region!

Civil Righteousness is a voice for the government of God, channeling justice through righteousness:
• A prayer-fueled justice movement focused on the most challenging issues in America and beyond.
• A reconciliation movement applying the Gospel of the Kingdom to the historic divisions in America and beyond.
• A righteousness movement taking the Gospel of the Kingdom to the most challenging communities in America and beyond.

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.”

-Psalm 89:14
